Со стороны Нью-Джерси в пределах гавани расположены два крупных грузовых порта - Морской автотерминал [Auto Marine Terminal] (на берегу бухты Аппер-Бей [ Upper New York Bay]) и огромный Ньюаркский порт с морским терминалом в Элизабете [Port Newark - Elizabeth Marine Terminal] в бухте Ньюарк [Newark Bay]. Нью-Йоркский городской пассажирский морской терминал [New York City Passenger Ship Terminal] имеет три пирса в районе Вест-Сайд [ West Side] (между 48-й и 52-й улицами) на берегу Хадсона - все, что осталось от многочисленных пирсов, некогда обслуживавших трансатлантические рейсы. В 1996 было принято решение об углублении гавани.

    Официально праздновалось в День независимости [ Independence Day] 4 июля 1976. Торжества проходили в течение всего года. Миллионы людей участвовали в парадах, регатах, театрализированных представлениях, восстанавливавших различные исторические события, фейерверках, родео [ rodeo], концертах, церемониях и т.п. В 1973 в Вашингтоне для координации торжеств были созданы Администрация по двухсотлетию Американской революции [American Revolution Bicentennial Administration] и Совет по двухсотлетию тринадцати первых штатов [Bicentennial Council of the Thirteen Original States], а также соответствующие комиссии в штатах. На пожертвования частных компаний и граждан (5,6 млн. долларов) был создан "Поезд американской свободы" [American Freedom Train] с передвижной выставкой "американы". В 1975 он отправился в 22-месячную поездку по 80 городам страны. Одним из результатов праздника стало резкое повышение интереса к ранней истории страны.
